We’re gearing up for another exciting school year and season of FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) robotics at Vandegrift High School (VHS). Mentoring is an integral part of the FIRST program and contributes, in a large part, to the program’s success. Mentors build team member’s self-confidence, knowledge, inspiration in science and technology. More importantly, mentors teach students to work hard and compete with gracious professionalism.
If you are new to FTC or have not mentored before, don’t worry. Mentoring is a partnership relationship whereby the team and mentors work collaboratively towards a mutual and beneficial goal. At the end of it, mentors take away as much as the students.
Mentoring an FTC Team IS one of the most rewarding experiences and like any great reward, it involves a commitment of time and energy.
This is a call to all ViperBot parents and community professionals to please consider mentoring. ViperBots needs professionals with expertise in:
- Mechanical engineering (design)
- Project management
- Hardware / Electrical (build)
- Software engineering
You must be an approved LISD volunteer to participate with ViperBots Robotics. To initiate the approval process, browse to Leander ISD Volunteer Services.
